Ressent-tu ma douleur ?

We necessarily know people, from our entourage or from outside who suffer from pain. Pain is defined by a painful physical sensation that can be the cause of several factors: aging, accident, chronic illness. This sensation is unique for the person who experiences this discomfort because we cannot be aware of this pain. .

Of course, it is possible to put yourself in the other person's shoes, but that does not mean that being empathetic is to feel the suffering of an individual. A person who suffers physically also suffers emotionally. Suffering can lead to depression which leads to showing more emotions (crying, screaming, loneliness, despair, fear of the future, anger).

To better explain this, I will take an example:
Mr. X has been suffering from severe pain for several months due to his chronic inflammatory disease. After several consultations with doctors and having had several examinations, he learns that this disease is incurable and that there is no particular treatment.

The only solution was the possibility of reducing the symptoms and preventing the progression of the disease. The doctor therefore prescribed him antibiotics to improve his quality of life. Despite taking the medication, the patient is still in pain and begins to get angry and scream with all his might.

The family does not understand the reason why the patient suffers even after taking these drugs. According to them, he shouldn't be in pain since he took his treatment. (It's important to remember that antibiotics don't always work.)

Pain is a very excruciating thing that we cannot describe, it is impossible to put yourself in the patient's shoes and feel their pain. All we can do is try to relieve him by staying close to him.

Family and friends can support him in his difficulties related to his pain. A person who suffers from pain will tend to want to talk. This is why it is important to have trusted people by your side who are ready to listen to you so that the person can confide.

Never underestimate a person's pain

A few questions:

- Have you ever faced such a situation?
- How will you react to a person who is suffering?
- How do you reassure these people?

En vous remerciant d’avance pour vos réponses.
